Adult Recreation

MTA Sports Center’s 5 full-sized basketball courts allow for an ambitious Adult Recreation schedule.  Some of the activities come with membership, while other activities require a team or player registration fee.

Geek League Basketball

Affectionately known as Geek League to the participants. Don’t think it’s an insult.  Geek League players wear the name badge with honor.  Geek League Basketball is open gym basketball and everyone is welcome, ages 14-84, men, women, collegiate players looking for a game, to playerss who never played organized basketball.  Members play for free.  Non-members can pay the daily rate fee at the Front Desk.  Drop-ins are welcome!

Geek Leaguer’s play Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 6-8AM and Saturdays from 7-9AM.  Come join the fun!

Pickle Ball

Pickle Ball is a huge member activity at MTA Sports Center.  If you’ve never seen pickle ball, think tennis with a whiffle ball and not as much running.  Pickle Ball has become incredibly popular across the United States.  Players even have the opportunity to enter tournaments at MTA Sports Center or across the state if they wish.

Pickle Ball is like Geek League Basketball in that all ages and ability levels are welcome!  Pickle Ballers generally play M-F from 9:30AM-12:30PM.  Check the class schedule as sometimes additional times are added.

Men’s & Women’s League Basketball

Seasons run from October through February.  Women’s League is run through an outside group using rented courts.  A group of women will rent court hours from MTA Sports Center and play games weekly.  Entrance into the men’s league requires a player/team fee and does not come with MTA Sports Center membership.  However, the league is operated by MTA Sports Center.

Currently two men’s leagues run throughout the winter.  Adult Men’s League is open to anybody.  The season runs from October-March.  Season length, game days and fees vary.  Contact Steve Imoe at simoe@mtasportscenter or 355-7643 for details.  Players are required to put their own teams together.  If you need a team, show up to Geek League and start asking around.  That’s how you will get known by the other players.

The second men’s league is 40+.  Women of any age can play in this league also.  The 40+ league began in 2018 and was an immediate hit!  Contact Steve Imoe at simoe@mtasportscenter or 355-7643 for details.  Players are required to put their own teams together.  If you need a team, show up to Geek League and start asking around.  That’s how you will get known by the other players.

Corn Hole Leagues and Tourneys

One of the most fun activities at the Sports Center is the ever-popular Corn Hole League.  Check out this link to see Corn Hole in action.  Corn Hole is a great social activity for friends and spouses.  (I suppose spouses can also be friends!).  Grab your spouse or friend or both and come have some fun!  Starting this fall, we will also be offering a competitive Corn Hole league open to both men and women with cash prizes for the top teams in the league at the end.  More information to come in the future.
